Creamy Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is a recipe for making a rich buttery chocolate chip cookie.
  • 1/2 cup butter.
  • 1 cup sugar.
  • 1 egg.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  • 2 oz. Baker's chocolate.
  • 2 1/2 cups flour (scant).
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder.
  • 1/4 cup milk.

Cream the butter, add sugar gradually, egg well beaten, salt, and melted chocolate. Beat well, and add flour mixed and sifted with baking powder alternately with milk. Chill, roll very thin, then shape with a small cutter, first dipped in flour, and bake in a hot oven. Enjoy the cookies!

This is a simple recipe for chocolate chip cookies that yields some delicious cookies.

  • Two cups of white sugar,
  • 1 cup of grated, unsweetened chocolate,
  • 2 eggs,
  • 1/2 cup of butter,
  • 2 teaspoonfuls of baking powder.

    Flavor with vanilla. Mix together sugar butter and eggs, add melted chocolate and flour to stiffen, just enough flour being used to allow of their being cut with a cake cutter. The baking powder should have been sifted with a small amount of flour before adding.







  • Almond Chocolate Cookies

    Almond Chocolate Cookies

    Take a scant cup of butter, a heaping cup of light brown sugar, two eggs, a teaspoon of cinnamon, half a teaspoon of cloves, a cup of almonds, cut fine, without blanching, a cup of currants, cleaned and dried, two ounces of unsweetened chocolate dissolved in half a cup of milk, and flour enough to roll; before adding the flour, put into it a heaping teaspoon of baking powder. Mix in the order given; roll out about one-eighth of an inch thick; cut with any preferred cake cutter and bake in a moderate oven. Make a rather thick syrup of half a cup each of granulated sugar and water boiled together, and brush the cakes with this syrup as soon as they are taken from the oven.--Amelia Sulzbacher.
